Climate Change

As part of the blogging challenge I am taking part in BAD 2009, and this is my post on climate change.

Climate Change is affecting all of us, especially animals.  According to the EPA kids site the earth has warmed about 1 degree Fahrenheit causing the oceans to rise.  This is bad for sea turtles and many other animals.

The sea turtle nests are being destroyed by storms and rising sea levels.  According to the Aquarium of New England  it may take decades or even centuries for sea turtles to re-establish and stabilize their habitats.  Already there are 6 sea turtle species on the endangered list.  They are the green sea turtles, hawksbill, loggerheads, Kemp’s ridleys, Olive ridleys and leatherbacks.   Foods that sea turtles eat are being affected by the water warming.  The food that they usually eat is not as plentiful as it is when its cooler(Sea turtle world).  So they have to look somewhere else and this causes them greater stress.

Just by doing some small things you can help the earth.  Some of you might already be doing things to help climate change. Here are some little things I do.

-I turn off the lights when I leave a room all the time.

-I clean the beach whenever I get a chance.

-Buy organic foods as much as posible.

-Recycle just things that can be recycled.

-Go to the library and borrow books.

-Take bags to the grocery store and never foget.
